When I got pregnant with Zoe, my gut was still not healed. I was not aware of all the things I am currently aware of. When I was younger I received many vaccines, was on constant antibiotics, was around second hand smoke, had a very poor diet, had tons of emotional stress, was on birth control, and I was also exposed to tons of chemicals in my home. All this toxic load put a huge burden on my overall health, and in turn caused me to have autoimmune issues and leaky gut. I passed my gut bacteria on to my daughter, and now I am in the process of healing her gut too.
- If you are trying to get pregnant or want to get pregnant
these are things you want to consider looking at:- What is your stress level?
- Are you on any medications or antibiotics?
- Did you receive any recent vaccines?
- What chemicals are you exposed to in your home?
- What is your diet like?
- Are you taking a methylated prenatal vitamin?
A study showed 287 toxins in the umbilical cord of a brand new baby are all due to moms toxic exposure. We are exposed to chemicals constantly. I suggest looking at my blog on changing out our cleaning products to reduce toxic exposure. When we change our products, shift to a nutrient dense diet, reduce stress, and add in supplementation we can heal our gut health.
Below is a quick run down of supplements, and nutrients you should be taking in pregnancy and the role they play in forming a healthy baby. I also put links to products that I specifically like from companies I have researched.

Liver Supplement. I love the brand Ancestral Supplements. Organ meats are the most nutrient dense bioavailable foods you can consume, especially when pregnant.
Instead of taking Iron, I tell clients to take liver pills, and eat liver puree. I also like their product ancestral minerals because we are all deficient in minerals, and this helps balance our minerals.
Rosita Cod Liver Oil has high amounts of vitamin A which we need in pregnancy, and will help with babies brain development.
Ion gut support is one of my favorite products because its easy to take, and helps heal your gut lining.
Starting with those products above will help you, and your baby!
In terms of a nutrient dense diet I recommend eating a high quality protein diet filled with organ meats, grass fed meats, raw dairy, and organic fruits and vegetables.
For stress reduction, I recommend finding something that resonates with you, whether thats yoga, walking, being in nature, journaling, or therapy. As long as you are doing something where you can decompress everyday that is important. I also recommend getting some movement in everyday, even if its just walking.
